Brain Bee 2020

Do you like brains?  Do you want to know what makes people tick? or maybe you’re just interested in science?

The WGC 2020 Brain Bee team needs you!

The New Zealand Brain Bee Challenge (NZBBC) is a competition for high school students in Year 11 to learn about the brain and its functions, discover the latest discoveries in neuroscience research, dispel misconceptions about neurological and mental illnesses, and find out about the exciting career opportunities brain research has to offer.

If you enter, you’ll get to join a group of students for study sessions on the different cells and functions of the brain – you’ll complete fun activities, watch videos, and read interesting papers as you learn all you need to know for the Brain Bee Challenge.
Round One is an online multi-choice quiz, run by Education Perfect. If your round one score qualifies you, you’ll go through to the Round Two quiz day at The Centre for Brain Research at University of Auckland, and compete against the rest of the country.  It’s a great day out to learn about neuroscience, bond with your fellow brainiacs, and check out the study opportunities at University of Auckland.

For more information, or to sign up, please come to a meeting about the competition at lunchtime on Wednesday 12th February in T32.  If you’re not able to make the meeting, but would still like to join the team, please contact Dr Rowe by email: amy.rowe@wgc.school.nz
See you there, Brainiacs!
