CCRFs: FAQs

My application for a hall of residence is showing as “incomplete”. What does this mean?

Those of you who have already applied for a CCRF (a school reference for university accommodation) may have seen a status update telling you that your application is incomplete.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have done anything wrong, or that your application for a CCRF didn’t go through. The most likely explanation is that I haven’t written and submitted your reference yet. I am working through them now, but they take quite a bit of time, and teachers have only just finished writing their initial comments for me to use. I will write them all by the deadline of 15 September, and I will write and submit them in the order I receive them (i.e. the date on which you applied for a CCRF). Until I submit your CCRF, your status will show as “incomplete”. You don’t need to worry. As long as you have applied for a CCRF (at this website), then I will have received your request, and your CCRF will be written. I submit them directly (online), so you won’t receive anything from me. It will go straight to the universities you have ticked on your CCRF application form.

I haven’t applied for a CCRF yet, but I do want to apply for university accommodation. Is it too late?

No, but please do apply for a CCRF by September 1 (at the latest), to give me time to write them all. I already have more than 150 requests, and there will be more to come – so give yourself the best chance to get it written by applying as soon as you can.

I submitted my CCRF application a while ago, but now I want to add more universities. How can I do that?

Go back to this website, and start typing in your NSN, name and other details. The rest of the details should start to autofill, and you will see the list of universities that you have ticked. You can now add or delete ticks, and then submit again. The changes will now be registered.

Can I come and talk to you, to ask you something about my CCRF?

Yes, of course. I have an office in the area where the deans’ offices used to be (last year). It is just off the hall foyer, and there is a picture of a frog on the door. You can knock, and if I’m there, I will invite you in for a chat. I am usually there at interval and lunchtime, and often there at other times.

Good luck with your applications. I know that this can be a stressful process, but there is a lot of support in place to help you succeed.
