Innovative Young Minds Online Programme

Innovative Young Mind’s goal is to educate young women in Years 11 and 12 about the amazing range of research and career opportunities available in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and high-tech manufacturing). IYM’s key goal is to see more young women join New Zealand’s science and technology industry through inspiring a new generation of innovators and industry leaders.

In 2023 IYM is offering young women from all over New Zealand the opportunity to take part in our IYM Online 2023 programme. With our partner Chorus, the programme will be delivered entirely online over five half-day sessions during the April school holidays.  Participants will be exposed to:

  • inspiring interactive career panels

  • research and innovation showcases

  • virtual tours of labs and tech workspaces

  • hands-on digital technology sessions

  • team-building and networking sessions.

Participants will also have the opportunity to meet women working in science and technology and make friends with like-minded young women. Places on IYM Online 2023 are limited to 100 and there is a small participation fee of $30. Key dates are:

Applications open: 1 November 2022
Applications close: 15 March 2023
Programme dates: 17 – 21 April 2023

We are looking for students who have a real interest in STEMM subjects, not necessarily those who have performed at the top of their class in the past. We want to inspire students who have not had exposure to STEMM career options or who need to build their confidence to pursue these subjects further. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, there is only a small participation fee of $30. We also have some funding available to cover the $30 fee for any students facing financial hardship.

Enclosed is an information sheet on IYM Online 2023. Please let your students know about this exciting programme and encourage them to apply through our website.
