Invite to Clothing Clinic Event

To introduce myself – I’m Di & I’m from Sustainability Trust here in Wellington. We’ve partnered up with a couple of clothing / textile artists – Barbara Wheeler and Caroline O’Reilly – to deliver two clothing clinics designed specifically for youth.  What is a Clothing Clinic? I’m glad you asked..

A Clothing Clinic is basically a workshop that is about mending, making, altering and caring for clothing.  It’s hands-on, it’s creative and it’s about teaching tangible life skills to our younger generations, especially those who are about to head off to university. The Clothing Clinic’s we’re running have an added environmental focus too (in addition to the rethink, reuse, repurpose over replace). At this workshop, participants will learn about the environmental dangers of the fast-fashion clothing trade – specifically the dangers of polycotton materials and the impact it is having on our marine life.  You will also learn what to look for when choosing clothing and how to take care of it.

We’ve set the ticket price at $20 per person, but if you wanted to do a bulk booking for students from your school, I’d be happy to work out a discounted rate. These workshops are for youth, so we really want to make that happen.  The two workshops will be held on Sat, 9 Oct & Sat, 23 Oct – 10 am to 4 pm  – at Sustainability Trust.

You can ready more about them here:  https://sustaintrust.org.nz/our-events/clothing-clinic

Please note that there are only 10 spots at each workshop and we anticipate that they will sell out really fast.  Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your time.
