Dear Y9 and Y10 students,
This year the Maths Department will be running a Maths Club once a fortnight, with sessions happening at lunchtime on Mondays. The aim of this club is to enrich students’ learning in Mathematics and to provide an extension to the curriculum activities that are being covered in class. All junior students are welcome and encouraged to get involved.
Throughout the year the students will be exposed to a variety of problem solving strategies, which will not only benefit them in everyday life, but also help them to feel prepared for Maths competitions, including the Otago Maths Competition, Australian Maths Competition and NZ MathsWell Challenge. They will also have opportunities to work collaboratively with peers to plan, organise and run Math related activities, such as Pi Day in Term 1.
