Information for Teachers Employed from Overseas

  • Immigration
    New Zealand or Australian citizens or permanent residents seeking positions in New Zealand do not require work or resident permits.  All other immigrant teachers require permits.
  • Overseas Qualifications
    All overseas trained teachers require a New Zealand Qualifications Authority assessment for salary purposes.  The website for further information and the guide and application form is NZQA – International Qualifications
  • Teacher Registration
    After you have received your NZQA assessment you can apply to the Teachers’ Council to process your application for registration.  Refer Education Council.
  • For information on salaries and contracts in the Secondary Teachers Agreement please follow this link to the Ministry of Education site.

Homestay Assistant

Part-Time position – Term time only

We currently have a position available for a Homestay Assistant. This is a permanent part-time position to commence Monday 27 January, 2020.
The hours of work will be 12 hours a week, ideally Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday term-time only. While this is a 12 hr a week position on set days, there would need to be some ability to work overtime at key times during the year, e.g. as students are arriving.

The Homestay Assistant supports the Homestay Manager in the day to day tasks around the care and administration requirements for International Fee Paying Students.

We require someone who:

  • Has good written and spoken English
  • Has good organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Enjoys working with teenage girls and has experience in working cross culturally
  • Is calm, efficient and good at solving problems
  • Has good IT skills and is able to learn new applications easily
  • Has a clean driver’s licence and use of a car

The remuneration will be according the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement.

Music Administrative Assistant 2020

We are looking for a Music Administrative Assistant to assist the HOD Music with cataloguing, maintaining inventory spreadsheet, maintaining music student attendance records and general administration duties.

The successful candidate will have:

  • excellent communication skills with a willingness to problem solve
  • Music reading skills
  • Good organisation and planning skills

School Nurse

We are looking for an experienced registered Nurse.

The successful applicant will enjoy working with, and be good with, teenagers and be able to work independently as well as being part of a wider Wellbeing team.

The Nurse will also deal with staff issues.

This position starts in late January 2020 (by negotiation). This is a 5 day a week position, term time only (40 weeks), 6 hrs a day – ideally 9am – 3pm. We would consider two people applying together as a job share.
