This letter is to provide an update for the next step of the journey, as advised in our previous letter emailed to you on 11 May 2022.
As a quick reminder, we advised that zone 1-3 and 3-3 Monthly passes, 10-Trips and off-board single trip tickets for the Johnsonville line will no longer be sold by Metlink ticket offices or retailers from 1 July 2022. Below please find information on what your staff, students, parents and/or caregivers can do to ‘make the switch to Snapper’.
What if I don’t have a Snapper card?
Metlink is offering a ‘free’ Snapper card if you don’t currently have one with your next 10-trip or monthly pass ticket purchase at Wellington station. This offer is for a limited time only commencing 10 June to 31 July 2022. We therefore encourage staff, students, parents and/or caregivers to make the switch, It’s that easy!
Once you receive your Snapper card, it is then a simple step to apply either the child fare concession or adult fare for either zone 1-3 or 3-3 for their train journey, it works the same way as on the bus. It is important however, to remember to tag on and tag off at the platform for each journey to avoid a pink slip. Single-trip tickets can still be bought on-board with cash.
For more information about the trial to remove paper tickets from the Johnsonville line visit: Metlink.org.nz/snapper-on-rail or contact Metlink on 0800 801 700.
