WGC Athletics Day
Friday 19th February – Newtown Park
- Athletics Day is on Friday 19th February at Newtown Park. The whole school will be attending and competing. Girls are encouraged to dress up and decorate themselves in their house colours. Students are allowed to travel to and from the sports in their house decorations.
- If you are a competitive athlete please sign up on the notice board in the Gym Foyer. All students are encouraged to take part in the House events.
- House activities will also be held and all students are expected to take part but you don’t need to sign up for House events. Just turn up at the right time.
- Please bring sun screen, water and hats.
- It is a compulsory school day. Students must arrive by 9am. Attendance will be taken at the end of the day.
- Buses will leave from outside the College on Murphy Street. Girls will need to report to Brook Court no later than 8.30am. Otherwise they must report directly at the Park no later than 9am. Priority will be given to juniors.
- Please note, if students are planning to run in the 1500m race at 9.30am, they should make their own way to the park as the buses may not arrive in time.
- Students cannot leave the grounds unless they have proof of an appointment and a signed note from their parents.
- Buses will depart from the Park at approx. 2.30pm to return students to the school. The normal school buses home will depart from the College at the usual time. Priority will be given to transporting the junior students back to WGC. Senior students may have to use public transport and will need money for this.
- We will also have a Smoothie Truck which takes eftpos or cash.
- The sports are unlikely to be cancelled as we do not have another time to run them but if you are in doubt, check the school website.
