We would like to let you know about an opportunity that we have for Year 10 Students. The Spirit of Adventure Trust has given us the opportunity for 20 Year 10 students to go on a 5 day Spirit Voyage in 2021. This is a trip only available for Year 10 students.
The 5 Day voyage will involve students from 3 other schools from around New Zealand competing against WGC to win the Spirit Trophy. As a team you will enjoy a learning experience that guarantees challenge, adventure, creativity and reward.
Activities in the programme include ship-handling, teamwork, problem-solving, debating, and water sports (in and on the water). Teams also go ashore and complete tasks against each other and enjoy competitive games that involve ingenuity, leadership and fun.
We are looking for students who demonstrate our school values and are keen to be involved in this challenge.
There will be two two voyages 10 X Year 10 Students and each voyage will be accompanied by a WGC Teacher. The group will meet several times prior to departure to prepare for the trip and get to know each other.
The cost of this trip is $1,800.00 per student. The cost involves flights, transfers to the boat/back to the airport, teacher relief costs and the voyage itself.
If you are interested in attending the Spirit of Adventure you can collect an application from the student office and return this completed and signed by your parents by 1pm on Tuesday the 9th of March47
Once we have your applications Ms Wilson (Deputy Principal in charge of Student Leadership) and the Year 10 Dean will then seek guidance from your wānanga teachers before completing an interview process to select our 20 successful applicants.
