Each year at Wellington Girls’ College, our year 13 students are given the opportunity to select a charity for the school to support over the year
2021 - Common Unity Project Aotearoa
‘In 2012, the Common Unity Project Aotearoa started as a pilot project to explore the idea that, by inviting a community to partner with us and celebrating the strengths that we have, we might together address some challenges that affect us all.’
The project the school will be focussing on this year, is the Women in Agrihood project which is a subset within the Urban Kai Network. This project provides education and training for women in our community to grow food and provide nutritious kai for their whanau. Every dollar we raise will help educate women on how to grow healthy kai and in turn will mean that we are providing healthy options for children just like us.
We will raise money through our teal weeks, supporters club merch, school events and more! We will also have opportuntiies to help out at the gardens themselves, to plant veggies and fruit for families.
