Congratulations to Lottie Roberts, who was awarded Highly Commended for her outstanding Toi Matihiko work at the 2023 Ringa Toi Student Exhibition.
The annual Ringa Toi Student Exhibition is hosted by NZQA. The exhibition showcases the artwork of secondary school students with a focus on Toi Māori.
The exhibition contains artwork from secondary school students around New Zealand, who are working towards NCEA levels 1 – 3.
There are seven categories including Toi Whakairo, Toi Wharepora, Toi Matihiko, Toi Matatuhi, Toi Waituhi, Toi Matarau, and Toi Whakaahua.
In 2023, the Toi Matihiko taonga was designed by artist Chance Rohe.
The taonga is presented annually to the recipient of the Highly Commended placing for the Toi Matihiko section.
