You are warmly invited to our Community evening combined with Samuel Marsden Collegiate School:

Brave & Beyond: Helping parents and families navigate sport
Date:
 Wednesday 18 February
Time: 6pm -7:30pm
Venue: Sheppard Wake, Main Block, Samuel Marsden Collegiate School
Cost: $10 per ticket

With the new season underway and many students heading into trials and team selections, this is a particularly timely opportunity for parents and caregivers to pause, reflect, and consider how best to support their children during both the exciting and more challenging moments that sport can bring.

Join Craig Ross, a Sports Educator, Coach, and Mentor with over 35 years’ experience across elite and community sport, for an honest and insightful evening designed specifically for parents and caregivers.

Craig has worked at NZ Youth, Northern Districts, and New Zealand Cricket levels, and through his consultancy Brave & Beyond, he now supports parents, schools, and sporting organisations to create positive, balanced sporting environments where young people can thrive.

During the evening, Craig will share practical tools and strategies to help families:

  • Support children through trials, selections, and performance pressure

  • Navigate disappointment, confidence dips, and big emotions at home or on the sideline

  • Balance encouragement, enjoyment, and performance without adding pressure

  • Build positive, healthy family experiences around sport.

This session is relevant whether your child is new to sport, enjoys community participation, or is exploring higher-performance pathways.

We look forward to welcoming families from across our school communities and the wider Wellington region for a thoughtful and practical conversation.
