College Sport Wellington Awards

College Sport Wellington hosted its annual awards on Sunday celebrating the brightest young sporting talents from around the Wellington region.  Congratulations to the following WGC students who won Sportsperson of the Year in their sporting code.
 
Emma Douglass – Athletics, Jessica Tsai – Badminton, Samantha Whyte – Futsal, Sorita Pho – Hockey, Rachel Baker – Orienteering and Belle Burdon – Underwater Hockey. And congratulations also to those students who were finalists in their code; Maya Hatchwell – Floorball, Kristina Hames – Handball, Ruby Baker & Kat Winter – Hockey, Lauren Kendon – Orienteering, Alice Fahey – Rowing and Ruby Lucas – Water polo.
 
WGC continued its winning ways with other awards; Team of the Year – 1st X1 Hockey Team, Student Coach of the Year – Rhiannon Bond and Volunteer of the Year – Jayesh Morar.  Emma Douglass was also a finalist in the big overall award, Sportsperson of the Year. Ben Frean (Football and Dragonboating coach) was a finalist for Coach of the Year. 
 
WGC also won four pennants for coming top in a particular sport for the Wellington Region – Rowing, Hockey, Football and Underwater Hockey. 
Well done to everyone for such a successful sporting year.
