Applications for both programmes opened on 1 November 2020.
IYM 2021 will deliver an online programme for students from all over New Zealand and a residential programme for students from the Wellington region.
IYM Online will run in the first week of the April school holidays over five half-day sessions. Places will be limited to 100.
IYM Residential is for students from the Greater Wellington Region only. This will be based at Silverstream Retreat in Lower Hutt and will run in the first week of the July school holidays. Places will be limited to 40.
On both programmes, participants will be exposed to eye-opening and inspiring science and technology content in the most interactive way possible through:
- Tours of laboratories and other spaces in universities, Crown Research Institutes and businesses.
- Interactive sessions where researchers and innovators showcase their research and work.
- Inspiring career panels led by women working in STEMM.
- Hands-on science and technology activities.
- Team-building and networking sessions.
- An Innovation Challenge where participants work in teams led by industry expert mentors.
