ROTARY AUSTRALIA NEW ZEALAND STUDENT EXCHANGE 2020 EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM DEADLINE: 31 MAY 2019

- Will be aged between 131⁄2 and 16 years on 1st January 2020 (a date of birth between 1 January 2004 and 1 July 2006.

This is a family to family exchange guided and supported by Rotary. A student in one country is matched with a student from another country. Each student spends one school term living in the other’s home and attending their school. In 2020 the students from New Zealand will live in Australia in term 2 and the Australian students will live in New Zealand in Term 3. Each student is sponsored by a Rotary Club. The student’s School must agree to support the Exchange.
HOW WILL THE EXCHANGE BENEFIT THE STUDENT?
- An opportunity to be away from home and be “independent” in a supervised environment.
- The experience of being part of another family and attending another school in another country.
- Personal development and growth.

SELECTION PROCESS Acceptance to the Exchange will depend on a suitable student match being available. It may not be possible to match up every applicant.
OBLIGATIONS OF STUDENTS Students must obey the laws of the host country and accept the discipline of the host school and host parents. A student is an ambassador for their family, community and country.
GENERAL INFORMATION The approximate cost of the program is estimated to be $5,000. Pocket money is extra. Each student will have a mentor appointed from the Host Rotary Club to assist with issues that may arise while the student is away from home. A formal police check is done on every person over 18 who is living in the host family home.
