Subject selection 2026 for 2027

Subject information for 2027 is now available online on our website, https://wgc.school.nz/subjects/

Subject choices for 2027 are made via the student/parent portal, https://wgc.school.kiwi, then selecting the Subject Selection tab at the top. The course selection link is now live and students have been explained the process at both assembly on Tuesday and during Thursday’s Wānanga time.

Key dates:

Wednesday 29 July:

Subject Selection Evening for students and whānau, Gym 2

• Year 8: 4pm – 4.25pm

• Year 9-12: 4.30-6pm

• Year 11 parents are welcome to join Karen Brightwell, Principal’s Nominee in the library at 5pm for an Intro to NCEA session. This is for parents of students who will be Year 12 in 2027.

Tuesday 14 August:

Final date for online subject entry for current Year 11 and 12s

Wednesday 26 August:

Final date for online subject entry for current Year 9 and 10s

Note that while we always do our best to accommodate students who change their minds about the subjects they want to take, we cannot guarantee this will be possible as timetable and staffing are based on the initial choices they make. It is therefore important that students think really carefully about the choices they are about to make.

Careers Department staff will be available to Year 11 and 12 students in Week 1 to 4 for careers advice before making their Year 12 and 13 choices, and to current Y10s in week 5-6. Appointments can be made via with Wendy Caseley, Kaye Johnson, Megan Keenan or Rebecca McGuinness via our careers website: https://wgc.school.nz/careers/

You will receive an email at the end of Week 10 of Term 3 with your child’s provisional choices. Students for who there are questions or concerns heading into a new course next year, there is a subject confirmation day in late January which you will be emailed about if relevant mid-January.
