The University of Waikato offers over 20 scholarships for secondary school students who are considering study at the University of Waikato in 2024. Our premier school-leaver scholarships provide up to $28,000 to support students with their tuition fees, accommodation expenses, and more.
- Te Paewai o te Rangi: Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Achievement recognises students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential and involvement in their community (up to $28,000 over three years)
- Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship recognises students who demonstrate excellence in sport or creative or performing arts, leadership and academic achievement (up to $28,000 over three years)
- Te Ara Whānui Scholarship provides a platform for Māori students to strive for excellence, by recognising students who demonstrate academic merit and excellence in cultural and extracurricular activities (up to $15,000 over three years)
- Pacific Excellence Scholarship recognises students of Pacific Island descent who demonstrate academic merit and a commitment to the Pacific community (up to $15,000 over three years)
- ‘Ko Te Tangata’ School Leaver Scholarship is a scholarship aimed at making university accessible to everyone (between $5,000 and $7,000)
