WE GOT IT BACK!!!The mighty WGC relay team has won back the WGC/East athletics relay trophy, but what a race! Kat Winter started, making a slight gain in the first leg. She passed smoothly to Lola Fowler who also made a gain on her rival. The change to Samantha Whyte did not go according to plan with the baton hitting the deck. Without hesitation, Sam scooped it up and powered around her 100m to pass the baton on to Emma Douglass for the final leg. WGC was trailing by at least 10 metres at this stage but Emma didn’t give up. She didn’t win the Senior Athletics Championship for nothing. She is fast! Emma thundered down the 100m strip, with the entire Wellington East students screaming for their team. With three metres to go, Emma took the lead and crossed the line in first place…..!!!
