This course offers opportunities for you to show creativity and to develop a skill base in digital design technologies. You will utilise digital technologies, notably the Adobe Creative Suite, to create branding, social media content, digital marketing, videos and animation.
Assessment: This course is fully internally assessed
Pre-requisites: A Technology subject or HOD approval Voluntary contribution: $20 for materials and printing
Leads to: Year 13 Digital Design Technologies, Year 13 Applied Design Technology
Qualification available: NCEA Level 2
This course offers opportunities for you to show creativity and to further develop a skill base in digital technologies. You will produce a range of imagery that combines print and digital media. You will also learn digital illustration techniques and how to create images and pages for web publication.
Assessment: This course is fully internally assessed
Pre-requisites: A Technology subject or HOD approval Voluntary contribution: Cost of printing completed assessments, approximately $30 Leads to: Tertiary study
Qualification available: NCEA Level 3
This course is organised into two projects – web development and programming. In the web development module you will learn about what makes a successful website and then design and create a website using HTML and CSS, integrating modern web design principles and images edited or created in Adobe Photoshop. The development of your site will be managed using an agile methodology. You will then learn the foundations of programming with Python – an extremely relevant skill in the digital world we live in.
Assessment: A mixture of internal and external assessment will be offered in this course
Pre-requisites: Nil
Voluntary contribution: $20 for materials and printing
Leads to: Year 12 Digital Technologies
Qualification available: NCEA Level 1
In Year 12 Digital Technologies you will design and develop a website. The pages of the website will be generated dynamically with content fetched from a database. The development of the site will involve an agile methodology and industry standard source control, as well as efficient image manipulation in Photoshop. For the second project you will build on your programming skills to plan and write an advanced computer program in Python.
Assessment: A mixture of internal and external assessment will be offered in this course
Voluntary contribution: $20 for materials and printing
Pre‐requisites: 12 credits in Year 11 Digital Technologies or by negotiation with the Head of Department.
Leads to: Year 13 Digital Technologies, Year 13 Digital Design Technologies, Year 13 Applied material Science technology.
Qualification available: NCEA Level 2
This course extends on the knowledge around responsive website design and computer programming. The first project will involve developing an interactive program using Python that includes a graphical user interface. You will then develop a website focusing on database design, user experience, version control, and agile development methods.
Assessment: A mixture of internal and external assessment will be offered in this course
Pre-requisites: At least 10 Credits at Level 2 Digital Technologies; or by negotiation with the Head of Department.
Voluntary contribution: $20 for materials and printing
Leads to: Tertiary study
Qualification available: NCEA Level 3
The course offers opportunities for students interested in design and fashion and has been developed to extend the technological approach of planning, design and construction skills established in Level 1 Fashion and Textiles Technology. You will develop skills in the research of design, exploration of textile processes, advanced construction processes and sustainable practice. The difficulty and extent of the practical work completed is dependent on the ability and commitment of the student.
Assessment: A mixture of internal and external assessment will be offered in this course
Pre‐requisites: 12 credits in Level 1 Fashion and Textiles Technology
Voluntary contribution: $80 for take home materials and additional costs for drawing media and other resources for practical projects
Specialist equipment: Access to a sewing machine out of school hours is beneficial Leads to: Year 12 Fashion and Textiles Technology OR Year 12 Applied Material Science Technology
